Artist, Joseph S. Venus, has studied and researched mammals and people of the Pleistocene time period, 10,000 to 15,000 years ago. Mastodons were shorter and stouter than the mammoth and were more common than mammoths in eastern North America. Mastodons preferred to browse on leaves, twigs and roots. Skulls of the Mastodons were found in the Huntington Mountain area near Huntington, Utah. A skull is on display at the CEU Prehistoric Museum, Price, Utah. |
